Good Design & Bad Design

I really enjoy the colour, composition and style of this design. Theres a beautiful harmony between the warm and cold colours, which works well for the designs purpose. The jar encapsulates the idyllic scene within, which represents how different (in a good way) the musical is from the outside world.

The composition against the bland blue tinted background suggests entices the viewers eye to the jar, and then to the type below. This works well to gain the immediate attention of the viewer and them lead them to find out more by coming close to the image. The type works well with imagery with no harsh tones dominating any section.

In my opinion the layout of the interface is bad design. An interface this complicated is an unfamiliar site compared with the modern, sleek and simplified design of today. The interior of a plane cockpit has barely changed in twenty years, and seriously needs to be reconsidered from the ground up.

Aircraft design has a ten year period in which it goes through many stages of testing before it is approved fit for passenger flights, which unfortunately impacts the usability of the system.

The design could be improved to take in to account the stressful, intensive and concentrated job the pilot has to undertake on a daily basis. Systems within the cockpit could be optimized in to more versatile systems that only displayed relevant data at the required time (I.E. Take off procedure).
