I wanted the market area of the game to be at the heart, it is a place where cats from all different backgrounds come to communicate, gather and trade goods. It seemed the right place to use as the central focus and build the village outwards from it. This was one of the initial sketches I had for the layout of the game, and the market has remained pretty much central.
The assets for the market were inspired mainly from playing Runescape and Assassin's Creed, I wanted the objects to be immediately identifiable with trade and markets. Creating assets such as the cart gives the market a feeling of movement and activity, suggesting new stock has just come in and giving the player a more immersed experience.
